I have to say, I've read and watched a tonne of Inman Grant's interviews and it seems to me that she really does care about kids' safety. Or else she deserves an Oscar. I could be wrong about her, but I suspect she started out with good intentions and is probably still well intentioned in some ways, despite flaws and potentially dangerous ambitions. But the road to hell is paved...
I got to know her through Twitter soon after e-safety became an active online entity. It was because of my involvement in #OpChildSafety and other similar online activism groups that brought her to my attention.
E-safety seemed pretty amorphous in the early days, like it was observing online trends and testing the waters on how much it could get involved. Julie was very approachable and active on twitter and I was impressed with her passion and somewhat innovative involvement "in the social media trenches," so to speak.
After a while her and e-safety started signalling a new direction (circa early 2019)with its interactions online syncing up to mainstream press coverage, and political support.
Seeing what Jules and e-safety are up to now makes me doubt if all the good intentions early on were just to see whether it could position itself into a place of authority, in preparation for several years down the track.

The fact is, censorship has been endemic in Australia for years, e.g. in regard to my area of interest, taxpayer-funded vaccination policy and practice.
Try questioning vaccination policy in the years before Covid, it was like beating your head against a brick wall.
As I raise in comments on Maryanne Demasi's substack* recently, there's no mainstream platform for the Australian people to openly discuss policy issues, we have to do this ourselves in the alternative media, including of course on Substack.
